I’m Painting Josephine

I'm a self-taught painter based in Brisbane, exploring colour through bold, expressive abstraction. Inspired by the vibrant hues of faces, figures, and flowers, I aim to capture the beauty of botanicals and the fluid energy of the human form.

Becoming a mother has deeply shaped my practice and the way I see the world. Through the eyes of my young daughter—who often stops to admire flowers on a walk—I’ve learned to slow down, notice the small wonders, and find beauty in the everyday. This fresh perspective brings a sense of presence, tenderness, and joy to my work.

Painting is my joyful escape—a way to forget about the stresses of life. I love getting lost in colours and shapes, often losing track of time because I’m so immersed in the process. Creating art makes me feel free, curious, and connected.
